INTO ETERNITY - The Incurable Tragedy

So, this album has been leaked and I've given it a listen and wonder what any of your who have heard it think? I'm a really big INTO ETERNITY fan but this one doesn't seem to be cutting it for me. Granted i've only listened once, it usually doesn't require additional listens for me to enjoy an INTO ETERNITY album. And I know this is a leaked maybe unofficial release but what the fuck is with the production? At times it just sounds really really bad.

I hear ya - it's not rubbing me the right way either.   I think the first track is meh.  Although I have given it a few spins and it is growing.  And you're right about the production - seems a little bit off to me as well.  I hope it is just because it is a promo...

Please tell me they at least fixed the drum sound, please?  I really think their last record was a step down and without all the vocal melodies made them a little less original (if you considered them original in the first place).  I can't get really that pissed for trying to make an album that was easier to take into the live setting but doesn't mean its as enjoyable on cd.

I cannot make it through more than 1/2 of the album before wandering off in Winamp for something else.

Same here.  I've managed to listen to the whole thing 3 times now, but I'm just not liking it.    Losing 2 friends to cancer in the same year, and then your dad shortly after (also to cancer) would be terrible.  The anguish felt is obvious in the album, but it is over done... very depressing listen.  The ultra high pitched vocals tend to get on my nerves more on this one as well.  It's like when Mariah Carey first started out, her ability to sing very high registers was an attention getter, and gimmick.  Now it's old...at least she stopped doing it

I just listened to the track they got on their myspace, and to me, it sounds a lot like their Dead or Dreaming album, from the production to the vocals and riffs. I actually bought that cd from the band themselves in a tiny shithole club here in CT when they were touring with Goatwhore and Dying Fetus (talk about a missmatch) in '02. Some of the new singer's nut pinching vox can be a bit grating, but I dug the last one. I gotta hear more of this new one to form an opinion.

    The silence is deafening...

Re: INTO ETERNITY - The Incurable Tragedy

I've given another go and am able to point out some of the annoyances this time through. First off the production is not too hot. It sounds like the band is playng in my garage but all their amps are facing the walls so they sound like they're coming from the distance while the vocalist is yelling right in my ear. And though I usually really like Stu's Halford-esque high pitch vocals, the production makes them grating instead of impressive.

Another problem is that each transition from section to section in most of the songs is really rough and sometimes doesn't even fit at all. No doubt they are playing some pretty technical stuff but c'mon, lets at least make the shit go together.

I respect and I like the idea a concept album but the concept is just hard to listen to, especially if you yourself have lost loved ones to cancer. It's just a bit repetitive and I don't wanna be depressed after every song (for more reaons than I relate).

All in all this album has some good stuff but it steps way back and sounds kinda amateur and sloppy a lot like their very first album. I ope this isn't the final version and that the production is fixed before official release.

Fucking Funny-Yeah me too, but it isn't something I will rush out to buy. I recently got a package from Century Media and it included a small gift card looking thing with a website to go download their summer sampler. Into Eternity was one so I checked it out and it sounds pretty much the same as their other shit, but I need to hear more than 1 track.
