    stoned to death:

Also, Lamb of God - As The Palaces Burn. That could use some beefing up.

Ok..so...What if St. Anger had a sweet ear candy production? (With great sounding drums) What would you guys think of that album then?

Both excellent mentions... I think St. Anger would be good with better production, or at least myself and many others would give it a decent chance at not sucking that way Stick out tongue

One album that comes to mind is Helmet - Strap it On. Imagine "Meantime" production on that bitch.

An ugly girl in a pretty dress with great hair and makeup is still an ugly girl.

Personally I think that ATPB has the best production of any LoG album--Machine left the subsequent discs a little too clean and sterile for my tastes. New American Gospel could benefit from some tuning though.

My pick is Morbid Angel's Blessed Are the Sick. Great songs on that album but it's easily the worst sounding of their studio releases. I hate it when the master volume is super low so no matter how loud I crank it on my iPod I can't hear shit.

New American Gospel is actually my favorite production wise..I do agree that the latest discs are a bit too clean. Honestly, I think that is why they get the more recent Pantera comparisons.

St. Anger would be as you said. It would be like a botched facelift.

Crescent Shield - The Last of My Kind

I hate listening to the album right after this because I forget to turn the volume back down and then BLAM!! My ears are bleeding.

great choice - thicken up that guitar tone and for gods sake do something about those god awful kicks. they sound terrible.

how about dropping some bass lines into Metallica's ....And Justice for All. I never really knew what all the fuss was about....till i dropped two ten inch subs in my car and now this album sounds freaking weak.

...AJFA - We've been over this a million times. Until Cliff is raised from the dead and dubs over some bass tracks, I will not be happy with the way it sounds.

Black Flag - Damaged - I don't care if this constitutes pissing all over hallowed ground. I just want to hear what someone could do with it.

The entire Beatles catalogue - Seriously. It's Two Thousand and fucking Eight. It's time. Trust me. If we have no problem making Pet Sounds stereo, we can at least do a decent job mastering these.

I thought about saying this, but then decided that if it didn't sound as horrid as it does, it wouldn't be as violent and scary as it is. I got that Rise Above tribute thing and Rollins Band playing all the old Black Flag songs really cleanly with a modern production just sounded hollow.

I wouldn't want to touch old Minor Threat or Poison Idea stuff, so I'm a hypocrite for suggesting it. It's just that I would like to hear it cleaned up and with some heft just one time.

No no no...Damaged is perfect as it is. And the First 4 years is one of the best and finest sounding punk albums EVER.

Just imagine hearing songs off Damaged performed live in 1983..My friend was lucky enough to witness this in D.C. I don't think it could be captured better than that. Any old punk album is fine as it is. The original classics should just be left alone most of the time.

It's really not. We just tolerate it because, A) We're scared to fuck with something that has been given legendary status and B) We don't want our memories messed with. That's all. It's an awful production and it shouldn't fit at all. The only reason it does is because that's all we've known and we've gotten used to it.

The first Bad Brains album sounds way better after the remaster, so we shouldn't be afraid. Give it a go, sell some more records, what the hell.

A note my metal brothers.......there have been 2 albums in this thread that you have said need remastering that have in fact been remastered. They are: Megadeth-"rust in peace"(don't know if that was a joke or not)....and Lamb of God's "new american gospel". Just letting you know that they are, in fact, out there.

Does that mean a better beer could be placed upon it as well?  Maybe instead of Bud Light it could be a Boston Lager?

Yeah, funny how everyone is mentioning Metallica and LoG together.  Both have had an album with shitty snare production.  Bob Rock I can understand, but what were you thinking Steve Austin?

God damn it’s a long way home.
